Clearly, the level of impact on human health varies according to level and duration as well as frequency of exposure. Long-term exposure to solvents can lead to problems which may include dermatitis. Exposure to very high levels of certain solvent vapours can lead to unconsciousness or even death.
Swallowing paint should be treated the same as poisoning and a person who swallowed paint should be rushed to the hospital immediately. The symptoms of swallowing paint are as follows:
• Difficulty breathing and swallowing
• Abdominal pain
• Diarrhea
• Nausea or vomiting
• Rapid heartbeat
• Headache, light headedness, confusion and/or unconsciousness
• Change and/or loss of vision
